Opening up to love, sex and sexuality with transformational breath
Friday Mar 12, 2021
Friday Mar 12, 2021
In this episode I speak with Hayley Cannon about the healing power of Transformational breath. We discuss how breathing in a specific way with added pressure points and affirmations can aid in recovering from sexual trauma and how this breath can help open us up to the idea of love and sex.
About Hayley
Growing up I loved to write and play musical instruments. For as long as I can remember I've expressed myself through journalling, poetry, lyrics and in 2015 I released my first album titled Who Are You?, juggling music around my work as a Creative Strategist at busy advertising agencies. It was a milestone for me. I was fortunate enough to be introduced by Tom Robinson on BBC6 Music and be reviewed by media outlets including The Guardian. I don't mind telling you that it was challenging getting up on stage, being seen and singing about my inner-most thoughts. Yet I can't imagine life without having had that experience. Songwriting helped me get comfortable sharing my authentic self and the creative process makes a great container for emotions, a place to meet them with curiosity and acceptance.
I consider creativity to be a healing path and after experiencing this first-hand I was hooked on personal transformation. I studied counselling at Birkbeck University and psychotherapy at Regents. I learned how the unconscious mind impacts our behaviour and how unintegrated trauma can live inside our system if it goes unchecked. I practiced holding safe spaces where people could feel their feelings and I learned to trust in the validity of every emotion that surfaces - to view their coming to pass as a natural, necessary part of growth.
From here I trained in Transformational Breath®, a powerful practice that processes and resolves past hurts by acting directly on your physiology and expanding conscious awareness. My own experiences with this technique have been profound. States of bliss that shook my heart and cracked it open, connectedness to all that's bigger than myself and enduring, elevated perspective. I'm now qualified to facilitate Transformational Breath® sessions online, which can also include personal coaching at the client's request. Transformational Breath® has been awarded Best Complementary Therapy by the Institute of Complementary and Natural Medicine and all practitioners like myself are accredited by the International Coaching Federation.
Today I'm at your service sharing Transformational Breath®, music, writing and creative marketing support for conscious business leaders. My aim? To inspire a more soulful life for us all. What's a soulful life? One that you wake up to each morning feeling at peace with, no nagging doubts or 'what ifs'. How do you get there? With compassion, support and proven transformational techniques. I look forward to meeting you.

The effect of social media and trauma on our sexuality and relationships
Saturday Mar 06, 2021
Saturday Mar 06, 2021
In this episode I speak with Dr Stephanie Minchin about the role of social media on our relationship with our bodies, how trauma can effect our relationships both with partners and our own sexuality as well as some yoga therapy tools on how to work on these issues.
About Steph:
Dr Stephanie Minchin is a Clinical Psychologist, Yoga Therapist and Yoga Teacher who integrates yoga and psychology for positive mental health and emotional wellbeing. Stephanie co-founded the MoreMind project with MoreYoga, and has also authored several articles, research papers and a book chapter.
In her practice as a Clinical Psychologist, Stephanie offers psychological therapy with children, young people and families in NHS mental health services and as well as independent psychological therapy for all ages in East London. With advanced psychological training in trauma-informed approaches, Stephanie has worked with multiple corporate organisations, schools, charities and third sector organisations, delivering training and consultations as well as presenting as a keynote speaker at workshops and conferences. Stephanie believes in looking beyond the power of diagnostic labels and contextualises difficulties to life experiences unique to the individual, working from a positive psychology perspective for strength and growth to overcome adversity.
As Stephanie furthered her training as a Yoga Teacher, she realised that the parallel between sharing psychological therapy and yoga classes was about ‘holding space’ for others and inviting inner connection to understand oneself. In the discovery of yoga therapy, Stephanie pursued further training with The Minded Institute to compliment her passions and interests in yoga and psychology, uniting the two disciplines in a more holistic approach.
Yoga, mindfulness and meditation have become not only a regular feature of Stephanie’s daily practice and routine, yet also an integral part of her life as a way of living. Both yoga and psychology have supported Stephanie to become more grounded, mindful and self-compassionate, with an approach of acceptance and gratitude each day. Stephanie advocates that yoga and psychology are a journey of inner self-awareness with self-inquiry. Stephanie believes that there is an offering of psychological therapy and yoga therapy for everybody and every body, in all aspects of diversity and difference, with its gifts having transformative and healing powers possible and inclusive for all.

Friday Feb 26, 2021
In this episode I speak with Rob Keates and Julie Havelund from Acroyoga Collective. We discuss the importance of physical touch, how Acroyoga can help build trust and connection as well as why movement is good for our mental health and eroticism.
About Acroyoga Collective:
Combined, we have taught yoga, dance and AcroYoga for over ten years in institutions, studios and corporate settings. Building on these years of teaching multi-disciplinary movement styles to students, clients and companies we are passionate about the plethora of benefits that AcroYoga can add as a discipline to any environment. AcroYoga offers a very clear and concise approach to human connection and trust. We emphasise teaching with a focus on establishing a good groundwork of weight transfer, counterbalance, communication, trust, and alignment before transitioning to creative explorations.
As contemporary dancers, Rob and Julie have a passion for AcroYoga Collective to offer new approaches to contemporary dance technique with AcroYoga as a foundation. The interplay of these different movement practices helps to improve confidence in working collaboratively with each other, gain more strength and stamina, understand alignment, expand movement vocabulary, improve ability to invert and ways of communicating - both verbally and physically.
We create work, which is inspiring to watch as performances, and to participate in. Whilst we have significant experience in facilitating learning for dancers, our teaching is accessible to all, including those new to AcroYoga and dancing.
